There are 7 playing teams in Norway, Oslo, East Coast Barbarians, Fredrikstad and OSI (Oslo university) in the east and Bergen, Stavanger spread out on the west coast. There are also other clubs that show up at 7s or 10s tournaments.
The clubs are not of a professional standard, and as such players and coaches are not paid. Teams generally have to travel long distances when playing opposing sides. For Oslo, games that are played against East Coast Barbarians can be driven to before the match. When playing against the west coast teams, Oslo generally travel up the night before (average of 8hr drive), or those players with enough money buy their own plane ticket (1 hr flight). In all cases players have to pay their own travel and accomodation costs, although the club is working hard to raise funds to subsidise players travel costs.
The men's team standard ranges from new starts up to players who have played for their countries. There is also a broad range of nationalities including French, Aussies, Kiwis, Brits and local Norwegians as well.
Oslo RFK also have an active womens team. The girls do not have a Norwegian league, but they play teams from Bergen and Trondheim as well as other mixed teams from Norway on the tournaments that are held regularly throughout the season.
We have started a junior program and welcome everyone who wants to join. This goes for both boys and girls.
We also have a Social Team (Wild Geese) for players wanting to have fun.
You are more than welcome to come and try out for the club.
