Bergen League 2010 : 2nd gameAlternate match report: Fana RK - Bergenhus RK g After a delightful display at last weekend’s derby match, Fana have secured a late summer signing. Fana’s continued impressive home form was only mirrored by the disarray shown by the individualistic the Hus hopefuls. Fana, sometimes out-numbered but never out-skilled, took the game to the young pretenders. Bergen Hus, on the other hand, relied solely on the drudgery of pick and drive monotony, hoping that through boredom Fana would slip in attentiveness. Fana, ever eager to please their home crowd, tried a variety of marvellous moves in attack, whilst halting Hus’ hoards with an impressively impenetrable display in defence. As the poetry of motion shown by Fana sang lightly on the wind, Hus’ efforts were largely fruitless and their pack tiring, resembled an untended orchard accompanied by rotten apples gently decomposing on the moist drew dropped grass. However, as the final curtain slowly drew over the game, the mind-numbing dreariness of Hus led Fana to make a few crucial mistakes- this allowed Hus, who could only rely on these small lapses in concentration, to steal the win. The loss has been a hard cross to bear for Fana, who knew they were better than the unrealistic score line suggested. The Fana camp's mood was lightened somewhat mid-week when the shock transfer of Will Hume came to light. Bergen Hus who had fallen foul of the new BRUF ruling of “one Hume per team” could do little to persuade the new Norwegian international to stay. “I can't believe I've been given the chance to play for the real Bergen” said Will Hume at a late Fana training session. Karl “Punchy” Frisch, who has now recovered from the shock of a yellow card awarded by an obviously bias touch-judge, talked with delight at Will's arrival. Whilst Captain Tim “The Boot” hoped that Will could adapt to Fana's open style play after his spell at Hus. Insiders at Hus have suggested discontent in the ranks after Will's hurried departure; and while there has been little on-the-record comment, sources close to the inner-city stalwart David Hume claim he is “heartbroken”, “inconsolable”, “on the edge” and may not be able to play in the forth coming return event. While fair playing Fana do not plan to take any unfair advantage, the psychological effect of Hume's departure can not be underestimated for his now estranged ex-team mates, adding yet another “straw for the camels back” to Hus' ever deepening crises. All these factors bode well for Fana's return match tomorrow, where only a win will do. author will remain unnamed |
