| Stavanger’s 2007
BRK is going to (through) a lean period so that was already great that we manage to get a team to play 7’s in Stavanger. BRK had to play against Ås, ORK and SRK2 to qualify to the semi-final. Nearly half of the BRK’s team has never played 7’s so that was quite a challenge. After a 15 seconds warm-up lead by coach Hanro and his assistant Daniel, we managed to beat Ås by three tries to one. Ås had a couple of international 7’s players so that was a good performance. Next game against ORK started badly. Our kicker (I can’t say his name, this kick was too terrible) gave the ball directly to an ORK player who ran and scored. 5-0 after 5 seconds… We were all scared to break the almost unbeattable scottish record of being 21-0 down after 5 minutes against the italians during the last 6 nations. ORK managed to score another try and the score was 10-0 at half-time. However, Kjartan junior scored a try at the beginning of the second-half and BRK tried hard to score the equalizer but without any success. Bad luck for the boys ! The best tackle of the day was made during this game when X (I can’t say his name, the tackle was too good but he’s not our hero, the kicker) chased an Oslo’s player on 80 meters (not sure that was maybe on 150 meters) and caught in our own on-goal area. On the tackle, the Oslo’s player dropped the ball. That was a beauty. We won our last game against SRK2. Nothing really to say on that game… Just that the ref was especially bad, letting BRK scored after a couple of huge knock-ons. We met SRK1 in the semi-final. SRK1 was clearly the best team of this tournament with beating twice the deafending champion, ECB. However, their game against us was probably the most difficult they had to play as the score was only two tries to one 5 minutes before the end. BRK, once again, was trying hard to equalize but then Stavanger got the interception and killed the game.
A funny moment of the day was when we were watching the final between ECB and SRK. The ref was awful (see this good old funny match report from Willie, talking on the same ref : http://www.rugby.no/bergen/mglom0501/mglom0501.html ). Hanro, Willie and Hervé were commentating how wrong the ref was, why they always put the worse refs for the finals, …, while the ref’s daughter was sitting right behind them. She was not in a very good mood after that !

22. was in Monaco buying pølse at Carrefour Coach : Hanro and Daniel Best player: Saka (see Saka in action http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abY3U3hcQOU). Saka played both for BRK and ECB and was also the best ECB’s player. |

Bronze
final was supposed to be played against Oslo but both the teams were
too tired to play another game. Therefore, we tossed for the bronze
final. Captain Willy choosed the right face of the coin and BRK got
the bronze. I told you Willie will be the hero of the day !!!
