VALHALL 7'S 200625th of February by Mr 53-3
As Ole-Einar Bjørndalen in Torino, Bergen Rugby Klubb didn't manage to bring any gold from Valhall.
The team was very international with among the weird nationalities, South-Africa and Sogndal.
The team was beaten 17-5 in the finale against Tønsberg.
BRK had a good start in the tournament, playing Ås, Trondheim and OSI. Though BRK struggled to beat Trondheim 17-8 (2 tries from Derek and one from Svein-Jarle).
BRK scored more than 40 points against the two other teams. Ås had no fidjians this year...
In the semi-final, BRK had to face Stavanger RK... Stavanger scored twice in the first-half and BRK was behind 10-0 at half time. Two tries from Hervé and Kenny and one
conversion from Willy saved Bergen. Stavanger can be really pissed to have lost that game as BRK played really bad.
BRK kept playing a very poor rugby in the finale and never gave the impression that they were playing 7's. Tønsberg punished BRK in the finale with a well-deserved victory.
However, can we ask the NRF to buy a new watch to Greg, the ref during the final, as he blew the end of the game one minute before the end ??? However, this funny incident
(Derek wasn't laughing at all though) didn't make BRK to lose.
That was for sure a good warning for BRK before the real start of the season. It's not going as easy as some could think to keep all our trophies home...
