Rugby in Bergen schools

Bergen rugbyklubb, spearheaded by Gavin Collins, have in cooperation with Bergen Kommune and the BSI ladies agreed on a
project of teaching rugby in Bergen schools. The programme focuses on youth in the age of 13 to 16.

Drama at touch

It was all drama at touch this sunday. A collision between a SA and a NZ resulted in the SA lying on the ground, screaming, crying, weeping,
calling his mum, ... His right knee was done again. But after a while, our good old SA stood up again and everything was OK. We just use this
incident to bring your attention to a good oldie from 2004 :

Ian Irving's knee talked exclusively to the green arsed frog on his future
as a part of a rugby player.
"I feel ready to play again but unfortunately Ian seems more interested
in playing on his computer and eating chocolate and sweets. The most exercise
he takes is walking to the kitchen for another cup of tea! It's not just
me who is complaining, the rest of his body is feeling it too, it's like
living in the body of middle aged man!"

BRK's weelchair team

A wheelchair team has being added to BRK at tonigth committee meeting. They will be based at Brann stadium and will be all Norwegian playing
in BRK colours. There will be a male and female team. This is very exciting and we welcome BRK wheelies to our Klubb.
Training date and location to be announced soon. More details about wheelchair rugby to follow soon as well.

Bergen RK is getting ready for Nordic Cup 2010

The trainings for the Nordic cup that Bergen RK will play on Sunday the 13 of June has started.
Michael Bradley is coaching the team together with his staff, Nigel Horten and Mike Hill.

Scrummy is BRK's new scrum machine. Monday was the first time that BRK officialy trained with Scrummy. Nigel Horton was there
to learn us how to make a good use of Scrummy.

Andre Slaata made his debut for Norway

Five BRK's players were picked to play against Slovenia. Among them was Andre Slaata who played his first game for Norway. Result was
16-13 for Slovenia and a broken finger for Mick.

Eleven new refs IRB level 1

They were 11 to take part at the first ever IRB level 1 ref course held in Bergen, saturday the 24th of April.
Course was given by Ashley Morton and Jon Kittilsen.

4 BRK's players in the norwegian squad

Congratulations to Stian Røstberg fra Mølde, Joe Greenshields, William Hume and Michael Shelley who have been picked in the norwegian squad to play in Hungary
the 1st of may. This will be the first time that Will and Mick will represent Norway.

Michael Bradley trener BRK for nordisk Cup

Michael Bradley, direktøren for rugby i Connacht, har akseptert å trene Bergen Rugbyklubb for Nordisk Cup 2010.
Som NM15s 2009 champion,
(Norges Mesterskap), er Bergen kvalifisert for Nordic Cup 2010 som skal spilles 11 og 13 juni 2010 i Sverige.

Guttene var blant dem som møtte opp da Bergen Rugbyklubb i helgen arrangerte introduksjonskurs i sporten.
Klubben ønsker å få i gang et u17-lag, og har samtidig fått klarsignal av forbundet om at dette laget skal utgjøre Norges u17-landslag i rugby.

Det fikk TV 2 s reporter til de grader erfare.
Før premièren på rugbyfilmen Invictus lokker Bergen Rugbyklubb med gratisbilletter for å rekruttere fremtidige landslagsstjerner...

XV's Bergen League : Third game

Bergen league, game three kicked off Saturday 28st of August at Bergen Rugbyklubbs home ground Fana Stadion.
Due to injuries from game two some people were not able to participate and the result was a high scoring 11 on 11 game on yet another good day for rugby in Bergen.

Bergen league, game two of a total six scheduled, kicked off Saturday 21st of August at beautiful Fana Stadion. Just another Saturday to people in general,
but to Bergen rugby players this was the real start to the second half of the XV's season. And as you know we do not hold back just because we have teammates on the opposite
side of the pitch ;-)

It had been a year since Stockholm had seen the Bergen Red Knuts in action. [...] A shortage of forwards opened up the possibility of Andre Jappi to play second row and jump
in the line out. After decoding the puzzle that is the 4 man line-out, Jappi decided it was time for him to try the jump. The first jump was such a
breeze that even Victor Matfield would have been taking notes. Guest star player Adam Khalid Kayoom called Jappi in for another jump and the strangest
moment in rugby history occurred. A perplexed Jappi ran to the back of the line out and jumped facing the wrong way. |

7.15 am, Bergen, saturday morning : "Where is the kit ?" Nobody knows... Probably Saka but he is away... So we drove back to the city center,
picked the BSI's kit and of course missed the first ferry. Anyway, we made it on time and arrived one hour before kick-off at ISS...

Vallhall 7's

To have any chance of getting through to the final we needed to beat our Fijian hosts in the next game. Pretty early on (within say 3 or 4 seconds)
we realised this was a big ask and we where instead given a bit of a lesson on good 7s rugby. Sammy scoring a nice individual try to save some face
but we where well beaten – some of us more than others as Ed showed at half time by having some sort of stroke.

After
2 years gathering dust in Oslo, the NM 15s trophy is back in Bergen
again for the 6th time in the klubb's 10 years. It was a tough, evenly-matched
game played between the west coast rivals, but BRK walked away with
a hard-worked, deserved victory. What a finish to the klubb's 10th anniversary
year!
